Imprint Business Systems has become the latest print industry manufacturer to invest in the sector’s heritage by becoming a Print Heritage Partner of St Bride Foundation. The renowned Management Information Systems (MIS) provider’s generosity will be crucial in allowing this venerable institution to continue to protect and develop one of the world’s rarest and largest archives of print, media and communications, enabling it to be enjoyed by future generations.
The software manufacturer will use St Bride Foundation’s facilities to host its own Open Day – for which bookings are essential and being accepted now – on 10th September, the gemstone of which will be a grand tour of the building. Imprint’s guests will witness not only the beauty of this esoteric edifice, but also the contents of its library, which stretch back to the very genesis of print and media.
As well as helping to conserve this vast repository of the past, present and future of communications, Imprint’s support will allow Glyn Farrow and his team to continue the Herculean task of restoring and revitalising this unique landmark. Established in 1891 by philanthropists seeking to support the emergent printing and publishing community, the unusual, charismatic Fleet Street location contains a vast library accessible to the public, a theatre space, a printing workshop and a conference and events space for charities, companies and the local community.
“The contents of St Bride Foundation are truly an amazing reflection of the history of print,” explains Glennys Bourne, director, Imprint Business Systems. “Imprint is proud to have become a Print Heritage Partner and to be associated with this irreplaceable archive. We hope that other companies will agree that this fantastic resource must be preserved and evolved, and join us in this initiative.”
“In the current trend of austerity, Imprint’s magnanimity is exceptionally important in allowing us to plough forward with our crucial mission,” adds Glyn Farrow, chief executive of St Bride Foundation. “Every contribution is essential, and we praise Glennys’s vision in joining the Print Heritage Partner programme.”
